This week in Te Ngahere/Paihia School we have been doing Te Wiki O te Reo Maori. Basically when it was Te Reo Maori Week we had 9 rotations and 10 groups. Each group would have 3 different rotations every day for three days. My group was Karaka/Pohutukawa. On Monday the whole school gathered on the court to discuss where we are going. We had awesome leaders to help us know where we were going next. Our leaders were Ethan and Vanya. I think I did well at doing the rakau sticks and helping my buddy Haven. I think I could have done better with remembering the months of the year. I really had fun at Te Wiki O Te Reo Maori, and I look forwards to doing it next time.

Bees Wax Wraps
Hello everyone! This week in Te Ngahere we have been making beeswax wraps.
We had been given a piece of fabric to draw on.
We were drawing on them because they were a bit plain so we wanted to spice it up a bit,
and make it seem more like our beeswax wraps.
and make it seem more like our beeswax wraps.
We made the beeswax wraps because normally we would have plastic or glad wrap as a
cover for our food in our lunch, but now we can cover our food with our beeswax wrap.

I think I did well at drawing the patterns that wanted them to be, mostly because I know
I am not the best at drawing.
I am not the best at drawing.
I think I could have done better at holding the wrap still when we were drying it.
Here are some photos of my beeswax wrap:

Dress Up Day
This week in Te Ngahere the whole school has been dressing up as whatever we wanted to fund raise for
Kids Can.
We would also donate gold coins because we want to give money back to Kids Can.
If you didn’t already know what Kids Can is,
it is a super helpful group of people that give schools food, clothes and much more.
I dressed up as a demon with my friend Tayla. Today was so much fun!
A big thank you to Kids Can for donating so much stuff to us, it means so much!
Here are some photos of my best friends Liam, Chum Chum and myself:

Bay Bush Action Visit
In Te Ngahere we had visitors come into our class.
There names were Brad and Stella from Bay Bush Action.
They came to talk to us about saving our native and endemic birds.
They came with stuffed animals such as possums, a hedgehog, a ferret and a kiwi.
They came with 10 traps.
Our plan is to make our school the first school ever in NZ to be pest free.
I enjoyed seeing the possum because it looked so aggressive.
Thank you Brad and Stella for coming to our school.
Thank you Whaea Chrissy and Whaea Becks for arranging Brad and Stella to come to our class!
Here are some photos of us having so much fun!

Movie Making Story!
In Te Maunga we have been learning all of the different kind of camera shots. Did you know we have also been learning about the different angles as well! I made a movie with Isaiah S and Vinnie. We made a movie about Superman! Here is my movie and my writing for it!
I laid down on top of the fluffy ground, dreaming about flying. Dreaming about singing ‘ I beilive I can fly,’ as soon as I woke up, I was flying. I felt like superman. My fist felt like the only thing holding me up. I heard the song ‘ I believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky!’ My stomach had butterflies swarming all in it. Two children looked at me as though I was a psycho or something! I guess that would have been the normal reaction from people, you know, to see someone randomly flying on top of the air!
The shots we used were:
Close up
Bird’s Eye view
The long shot
The medium shot

Life Ed!
Every two years Paihia School gets to go to a caravan and get s to talk to a puppet and learn about something. This year we were learning about relationships. You may be thinking we shouldn't be learning about boyfriends and girlfriends, but we were actually learning about friendship relationships. Let's stop talking about the non juicy part, let's talk about the puppet! The puppet's name is Harold, so is the caravan. Harold is a giraffe that doesn't necessarily talk but does whisper in Terri's ( The owner of Harold ) ears because she isn't a ventriloquist so she can't speak with Harold's lips movie while Terri's lip's were movie or else that would look very weird!
