Persuasive Writing

In Te Maunga we have been working together and collaborating on one document while writing. We absolutely LOVED it!

I think I did well with commenting and giving feedback on the piece of writing under me.

I could have done better with putting more descriptive words into my writing

Here is my writing:

I believe that learning on the chromebooks is good for us because It is good for evidencing with your strategies and work you are proud of, you can finish off work at home and you can also record yourself on it.

Firstly, having chromebooks is important for children in the class to learn new facts by searching them up on the internet rather than having to look through one book. Or two! It is also good for the future because you might get into University or even get a job as an office worker. You will easily be able to use your skills of typing and using different tools.

Secondly, evidencing is GREAT if you are proud of some work . You can use different tools to share it with them. If someone was proud of their explain everything, they could take a snapshot and put it on a google slide, a doc, a sheet, a google form or a google drawing.

Thirdly, you can finish off your learning or work at home. If someone needed to write the rest of a story they could do it at home on their chromebook or log in from a different computer.

By the way, I wouldn’t be persuading you in this story if it wasn’t for this Chromebook!

Lastly, we can record our voices on vocaroo, voice recorder, speak pipe and morphvox. If someone was reading , they wouldn’t be able to give some evidence on a book so you could obviously record your voice for feedback on a chromebook.

Those were all my reasons why I think self directed learning is the best!
So do you really want to put everyone’s learning on the line?
I didn’t think so.

Writing

In Te Maunga we have been learning about how to write a persuasive. It had to be about if learning on the chrome is good or not.

I did well with putting paragraphs in between the reasons and examples.
I could have done better with saying a better example and writing a bigger story.

Here is my story⇩⇩⇩

Why learning on the Chromebooks is good

I believe that learning on Chromebooks is good for us because…

if we want to give feedback to our teacher we can email them a google slide doc and more of our evidence. If someone was proud of their explain everything, they could take a snapshot and put it on a google slide. The person could email it to their teacher and do some other work.

Secondly, People can finish off their work at home. Some people can sign in to their chromebook and others just bring theirs home. If a kid wanted to finish off their writing, they can just do it at home.

Lastly, chromebooks are GREAT with recording on.If we were reading we couldn’t give some evidence on a book so chromebooks can record your voice while you are reading or spelling so that would help you ALOT. That is why learning on the chromebooks is the best!

So do you think learning on the Chromebooks is good?

Maths

I am learning to order unit fractions because I have been taught that but I need to be taught that again because I have forgotten how to do it.( Ordering fractions is putting fractions in order like ¼ ⅕ ⅙ and more fractions.

I have increased ordering fractions while I am doing studyladder. I am proud of myself for organising me to do fractions every night now. I could have tried to get more help when I am doing my fractions at school. I think I have achieved my ordering fractions goal so I could probaly choose a new goal. I think I should remember to highlight my must do’s and can do’s A LOT more often!

Writing goal setting 2017

In Te Maunga we have been learning to take care of our own learning. First we have been doing our WRITING goals. I need to focus on my ideas and leveling up on it.
I did well with explaining what I need to do next and why I needed to do it, what I didn't do well was how much time it took to finish this.

I spell all essential list words correctly.
and spell some difficult words using my knowledge of spelling rules.
I carefully choose the punctuation I use to help with the meaning of my writing and correctly use a wide range of punctuation.
I use a variety of words and phrases to add detail and
I choose words to make people want to read my writing.
I use a variety of words and phrases to add detail and
I choose words to make people want to read my writing.
My ideas are on the topic and are beginning to show some complexity.
(Personal Voice)
I have selected an appropriate purpose and format for my audience, and use appropriate language features.
I put my ideas in order or groups and am attempting paragraphs. I use clear pronouns.
How do I know?
Give some examples from your writing of why you think you are in that box
On my spelling list I had a few challenging  words but I got through them.
E.g :
Beautiful
Encourage
Route
I think I am R6 because I use most punctuation like
Brackets, full stops, commas, question marks and capital letters.
I think I am an R4 because I didn’t really think about my sentence structure that well when I had written my 5 complex sentences.
I think I am an R4 because I used similes, I used adjectives, I used good metaphors and I also used different words than the ones I have already written down.
I think I am an  R4 because I don’t write
Complex sentences while noticing them while I write and I don’t go very well with coming up with idea’s.

I do not organise my stories I write before I start writing them.
What next?
What are your next learning steps?
By giving myself harder words each week ( Words That are list 10 )
I will keep writing stories with lots of speech marks and question marks.
I think I could do better with thinking about my complex sentences when I write a story.
I think I should use more interesting words when I write my stories.
I think I should try to come up  with more ideas before I start writing.

I think I should organise my paragraphs better.
As you can see, this is my wring learning plan.↑

Beach ED

Te Maunga has been learning about beach education. We learnt the rules for going to the beach, what the lifeguards use as tools for rescues and also we asked some random questions about their job. Te Maunga has been making animations of what we learnt with the lifeguards. (The rules). Here is my animation↙

Get NZ Writing

In Te Maunga, we have been making a poster for get NZ writing. Bella,       Lilli-Rose and I have been in charge of the poster. We had to answer questions on the poster and also make it look good. We tried to give as many people in the class a job to do on the poster. We had to make the poster in a very short amount of time. Some people didn't get a job for the poster. We also had little cards with gigantic letters on them. Since the whole class did the cards, we would join the cards up together and it would make one whole sentence. On the back, we would write a metaphor about ourselves. Here are some photo's that we took of our cards, the cards stuck together and also the poster.

In the end everybody was SO excited to collect Wellingtons cards and also poster. Here is there poster!

On our poster, the cards that were stuck together said...

'' Talk With People Who Help You See The World Differently!''
