The TRYathlon!

In Te Maunga were learning how to wright a recount. We thought it was a good idea to have Paihia Schools TRYathlon as a topic. Here is MY recount about it.

Last week on Friday, Paihia School had a TRYathlon in Paihia! We swam, we ran and also biked. It was so much fun. So here is how it went.

First we had to get our gear ready. We had to sit and listen to Mrs Williams before we walked down town.

After the talk, we marched down to the beach. We had another talk with Mrs Williams about the track / course on the beach. The first race was the Te Ngahere boys, second was the Te Ngahere girls. It took quite a long time for the girls in Te Maunga to have their race but once it was our turn it was scary.

I had butterflies in my stomach.  “On your marks ! Get set ! GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Mrs Williams called. We sprinted and sprinted into the water. It was cold. There was only three of us swimming. After a while I  had warmed up in the water. I was so weak once I came out of the water I couldn’t even walk! My legs couldn’t take it.I felt like a deflated balloon! But I still ran and ran.

Once I got back to school , I got my shoes on and got on the school bike. The helmet was too tight and the bike was too small. Yuktha’s  mum let me use Yuktha’s bike and helmet and they had fit perfectly. Off I went to the track. Once I finished, I got the yummiest bar I have ever had from Mrs Hadwin! I felt proud of myself for participating in that amazing TRYathlon . Hopefully we have another next year!
